Very often we hear spectators tell us "WOW"! That was the most exciting sports event I have ever seen, I wish I could do that!
We say, "Great, come take a lesson this week!" Most first-timers are surprised to learn that many players at the Dallas Polo Club started out with little or NO riding experience or knowledge of the game.
Dallas Polo Club strives to change that. Our polo school students and club members have one thing in common : Their love of polo began with a single lesson.
We take a stair-step approach to each new player.
Step 1: enroll in Polo School (purchase a single lesson or a 10 pack). New players are taught the very basics - primarily the mechanics of riding the horse, hitting the ball and the concept of "the line".
Lessons are held in the outdoor arena on the club's horses, scheduled around other polo activities so the student can meet club members, and see polo in action.
The object of the Polo School is not to make you a high-goalers in a month, but rather to provide enough of a foundation
to make an informed decision about pursuing polo and at what level. Dallas Polo club’s many members and wide variety of polo means that we’re sure to have the right atmosphere and level of polo for everyone.
We’re a fun, diverse group from all walks of life; forget the stuffy country club stereotype, this is Texas and you’ll find that the players are thrilled to meet you and help. In addition to polo, the club offers numerous social opportunities away from the field. We have a good time and so will you!
What level? We tailor your program to you. First-time riders (or children) need time to learn the basics. If you have years of riding experience, you may be playing with other club members in a month. It's common for new players to progress from "Which way do I face on the horse?" to playing in front of big crowds in less than a year. Polo is possibly the most exciting sport you will ever try, combining elements of hockey, rugby, baseball and soccer. And oh yeah, remember that you are doing all that from the back of a beautiful galloping 1000 pound horse! Whether you end up walking, watching or galloping, we encourage EVERYONE to least try Polo School at least once!
